In celebration of 60 years of hard and dedicated work, Byrd Barr Place, a local nonprofit organization committed to building pathways to self-sufficiency, is set to host its 60th anniversary Diamond Gala. This milestone event will take place on Saturday, October 5, at the Fairmont Hotel, located at 411 University Street in Seattle.

The gala aims to honor the organization's longstanding impact on the community while bringing together supporters and advocates dedicated to its mission. Through this celebration, Byrd Barr Place looks forward to continuing its important work for years.

Byrd Barr Place has a rich history rooted in community service and empowerment. Founded in 1963, the organization initially focused on providing essential services to those in need in the Seattle area. Named after Byrd Barr, a prominent advocate for social justice, the organization has evolved over the decades to address various social issues, including poverty, housing insecurity, and economic inequality.

Byrd Barr Place offered basic support services, such as food and emergency assistance, in its early years. Over time, it expanded its programs to include case management, job training, and housing assistance, all aimed at helping individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency.

The organization has become a vital resource in the community, adapting its services to meet the changing needs of the population it serves. Byrd Barr Place remains committed to empowering individuals and fostering economic independence, impacting countless lives over its six decades.

Angela Davis, a legendary civil rights leader, serves as the keynote speaker for the special event. There will be a champagne reception, music, great food, and the chance for community members to celebrate and come together to support their community organization that has been in business for 60 years.
