SELMA — Police say they have issued an arrest warrant for a shooting suspect.

Just after midnight on Saturday, police were dispatched to the Richard B. Harrison Alumni Association building at 405 S. Brevard St. A man had been shot in the arm during a domestic dispute.

“Further investigation will be conducted,” police said, “but a suspect has been identified, and warrants have been issued. An arrest is currently pending upon the location of the individual.”

Police called the shooting “an isolated occurrence” and said they expected no further arrests.

The Richard B. Harrison Alumni Association, a private group, owns the building where the shooting happened.

The town made that clear in a news release on Sunday.

“While in close proximity, all activities, events and rentals of the Alumni Association have no affiliation to the Town of Selma or the Richard B. Harrison Gymnasium,” the release stated.

The town owns the gym, which is next door to the Alumni Association building. Both are part of the former Richard B. Harrison School campus.
