SELMA — A Juneteenth celebration is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, June 30, at the Max G. Creech Selma Historical Museum, 104 W. Anderson St.

A program will explore the history and meaning of Juneteenth, which celebrates the announcement in Texas in 1865 of the ending of slavery. The celebration will also feature songs and door prizes.

“Our museum cordially invites all of our local Johnston county families, groups, students and history lovers to our sixth annual Juneteenth event,” said Eric Jackson, the museum’s education and projects coordinator.
