Memphis Man Who Robbed Jonesboro Retailer Gets Life Sentence
JONESBORO, Ark. — A Memphis man with an extensive criminal history was sentenced to life in prison today for an aggravated robbery committed earlier this year in Jonesboro. Pierre Darnell Wright, 34, of Memphis, was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday, August 15, 2024, according to the prosecutor’s office. He was convicted of aggravated robbery, a Class Y felony, after less than 20 minutes of jury deliberations. He also was convicted of a misdemeanor theft charge, receiving a 12-month suspended sentence on that charge.
Man shot, house sprayed with gunfire in drive-by shooting, MPD says
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis Police are looking for information after a man was shot and his home sprayed with bullets in a drive-by shooting. At 5:00 a.m. August 8, officers responded to an aggravated assault call in Whitehaven, Memphis Police said. The officers were told that one man had been shot, and that the people inside his home heard gunshots; officers also saw visible damage to the house, according to police.
