Fundraiser coming up for Helping Hands Society
PA live (WBRE) — The Helping Hands Society is a non-profit organization for special needs and typical children in Luzerne, Carbon, and Schuylkill counties. The Helping Hands Society welcomes all children and never turns its back on those families that cannot afford the developmental therapies they need. Instead, the organization relies on the generosity of the public to assist in helping our community’s children succeed in life, in and out of the classroom.
Upcoming! July Brings New Opportunities: Target Announces Upcoming Store Openings
WFCN – On July 21, mass retailer Target Corp. will launch three new locations in California, Missouri, and Pennsylvania, expanding its network of over 2,000 stores. Target plans to open a shop in Lomita, California. This will be the company’s 318th outlet in California and its 127th in the Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Anaheim area. The Lomita store, which will employ about 70 people, is about 33,000 square feet and is located at 2130 Pacific Coast Highway. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
CDC Investigates Multistate Listeria Outbreak Linked to Deli Meats in PA and other States
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is currently investigating a multistate outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes, which has so far affected 28 individuals across 12 states. According to the latest reports, all 28 infected individuals have been hospitalized, and there have been two fatalities linked to the outbreak—one in Illinois and another in New Jersey.

Towanda, Pa. — A man was charged for his disruption of a 2023 court proceeding at the Bradford County Courthouse. Stephen Ray Benting, 31, of Sayre allegedly claimed he was going to get a witness during a sentencing hearing in Towanda, Detective Kyle Wisel said.
