ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The boil water notice was lifted on Monday. According to the Seneca County Health Department, water sampling did not detect bacteria in the drinking water.

    ORIGINAL STORY

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A boil water notice was issued for parts of Seneca Falls Friday. Officials say it will likely last three to four days.

The boil water notice applies to the area of Fall Street north and west to Rumsey Street. Residents in that area should bring water to a rolling boil for one minute and cool before using for drinking, ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food; or use bottled water.

According to the Seneca County Health Department, the water system lost pressure around 2:30 p.m. due to a line break. The loss of pressure increases the chance that untreated water and harmful microbes can enter people’s water.

Anyone experience diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches is advised to seek medical advice.

The health department says the boil water notice will be lifted after water samples test negative for harmful bacteria for two consecutive days. This will likely lead to a need to boil water for the next three to four days.

Residents will be told when the boil water notice ends.
