The phrase "shooting yourself in the foot" comes to mind after a 3rd suspect in a drug trafficking case has been arrested on outstanding warrants.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office says 29 year old, Terry Dwayne Smith was arrested last Friday on warrants for trafficking fentanyl and meth and multiple weapons violations.

Those charges stem from an incident on May 11th on Curtis Drive near Seneca in which Smith accidentally shot himself in the leg. As Deputies arrived they saw a vehicle leaving the driveway and a traffic stop was executed.

The driver 23 year old, Makenna Ryan of Tiger, Georgia was arrested after a gun and a bag containing more than 8 ounces of meth and 4 grams of fentanyl were found inside the car. 31 year old, Sarah Whitten of Walhalla was arrested on a charge of accessory after the fact.

The Sheriff's Office says their investigation found that Smith was seen carrying the same bag on the property prior to it being placed in the vehicle.
