GUERNSEY COUNTY, Ohio, (WTRF) — The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 6-month-old infant who was found unresponsive and not breathing in a Senecaville home on June 27.

According to officials, paramedics, deputies, detectives, and a Trooper from the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the residence after receiving the 911 call. The first responders immediately began providing life-saving measures on the infant.

Officials say the child was transported by United Ambulance to Ohio Health Southeastern Medical Center, but was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Guernsey County Coroner requested that an autopsy be completed at the Licking County Medical Examiner’s Office. Ohio law requires an autopsy for any death of a child under the age of two who is otherwise healthy.

It is reported that detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division obtained a search warrant for the home and collected evidence from the residence.

Officials say the case remains active and is pending further investigation.
