Seattle City Council approves harsher penalties for illegal street racing
(The Center Square) – The Seattle City Council in an 8-1 vote passed emergency legislation on Tuesday meant to crack down on illegal street racing. The newly passed ordinance establishes a $500 civil infraction against the registered owner of a vehicle participating in illegal street racing. Seattle City Councilmember Rob Saka successfully included an amendment that increases the fine to $800 for a second infraction, and $1,500 for third and subsequent infractions. ...

Juveniles driving Hyundai in Bellevue intentionally hit 13-year-old bicyclist
BELLEVUE, Wash. — Police are asking the public's help identifying juveniles who intentionally drove into a bicyclist on Lake Washington Boulevard NE Saturday night. The Bellevue Police Department said the incident occurred around 8:22 p.m. on the 9500 block of Lake Washington Boulevard NE. Witnesses said a silver Hyundai Elantra "full of juveniles" drove into the bike lane and hit a random bystander, a 13-year-old riding home from a nearby park, police added.
Firefighters injured, 9 residents displaced in separate Kitsap County fires
KITSAP COUNTY, Wash. — Firefighters from Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue responded to structure fires in Silverdale and Bremerton on July 16. The first was in Silverdale at 12:08 a.m. on NW Cascade Street. A department spokesperson said five people in a single-family home were evacuated and one adult had significant burns and was flown to Harborview Medical Center.
