‘Summit Life’ — Capitol Hill’s Summit Pub turns 20
Jay Janicek and his business partner Sam Munguia have been the owners of the Summit Public House, a local gem of the Capitol Hill community, for the past 20 years. Their climb, marked by perseverance and a deep love for their neighborhood, started before they became owners. “We took it over in 2004, on St Patrick’s Day they handed us the keys,” Janicek recalls. Over the years, the neighborhood has transformed dramatically, but Summit Pub has remained the local watering hole.

Edmonds Mayor Mike Rosen helped open the 10th Annual Bastille Day Petanque Tournament at the Edmonds Civic Center Playfield July 14. This year’s Bastille Day contest was the largest event ever produced by the Edmonds Petanque Club, with 78 players coming from across the region, including Seattle, Kirkland, Renton, Tacoma, Port Townsend, Portland and Edmonds. Two Suspects Arrested in Connection With Overdose Deaths in North Idaho
HAUSER LAKE – On Wednesday, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) responded to two separate overdose incidents that resulted in the deaths of two young men. At approximately 7:19 AM, deputies were dispatched to the 1800 block of W. Lake Street in Hauser Lake, Idaho, where a 20-year-old male was found deceased from a likely Fentanyl overdose. About three hours later, KCSO units responded to the 1700 block of Cecil Road, where a 24-year-old male was also found deceased, suspected of a Fentanyl overdose.
