Seattle Restaurant Workers Could See a Big Spike in Pay Next Year
As restaurant owners wait for the Seattle City Council to deal with high delivery app fees, there’s another challenge facing their businesses, reports the Seattle Times: The minimum wage at restaurants could go up by as much as $3 next year. That would be a huge boost for many low-wage workers, and also potentially an existential threat for restaurants that rely on those workers.

SEATTLE - Amazon saw record sales for Prime Day this week as Prime members purchased more items than ever before, the company announced Thursday. The Seattle e-commerce giant, which does not disclose how much it earns during the popular discount event, also said "millions" of customers joined Prime in the past three weeks to take advantage of the discount event, which ended right before midnight Pacific Standard Time on Thursday.

Jay Janicek and his business partner Sam Munguia have been the owners of the Summit Public House, a local gem of the Capitol Hill community, for the past 20 years. The Pioneer Fire in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest has now expanded to 25,688 acres, 14% contained. Firefighters have been working diligently to protect the community of Stehekin through strategic firing operations. Edmonds Mayor Mike Rosen helped open the 10th Annual Bastille Day Petanque Tournament at the Edmonds Civic Center Playfield July 14. This year’s Bastille Day contest was the largest event ever produced by the Edmonds Petanque Club, with 78 players coming from across the region, including Seattle, Kirkland, Renton, Tacoma, Port Townsend, Portland and Edmonds.
