PATCHOGUE, NY, (July 21, 2024) - Suffolk Police arrested a suspect in connection with a hit-and-run crash early Sunday that left a young teen with serious injuries. The victim, a 13-year-old Wheatley Height boy, was riding an e-bike east on E. Main Street when he was struck at around 4:45 a.m. by an eastbound Audi. The driver fled after the collision.

Steuben County swimming area gets $4.5 million upgrades, more to come
DANSVILLE, N.Y. (WETM) — Multi-million dollar upgrades at Stony Brook State Park’s swimming facilities were just finished, and more improvements are underway. Governor Kathy Hochul’s Office announced on Monday that a $4.5 million improvement project for Stony Brook’s public swimming area is now complete. This tax-funded project saw the construction of a new 750-square-foot building that hosts lifeguard headquarters, a first aid area, and office space. Additionally, an obsolete bathhouse that was built in the ’60s was replaced with a new 1,700-square-foot one that has changing rooms, showers, and restrooms. The new buildings were built in a board and batten wood style that matches the park’s facilities that were built during the Great Depression.
