Philip Morris International to invest $600m in Colorado facility
Tobacco firm Philip Morris International announced on Tuesday that it aims to invest $600 million over the next two years through one of its US affiliates to open a manufacturing facility in Aurora, Colorado. The site will produce Swedish Match ZYN nicotine pouches to help meet the demand for smoke-free products, the company said. The facility is expected to create 500 direct jobs with ongoing annual economic impact of $550 million and an additional 1,000 indirect jobs for the State of Colorado. PMI's US affiliate plans to begin preliminary operations by the end of 2025 with regular production starting from 2026.
Bystanders perform life-saving CPR on 80-year-old hiker found on trail
A cardiac incident that occurred in Rocky Mountain National Park on July 15 put an 80-year-old woman at serious risk. The 80-year-old hiker was found unresponsive on Lawn Lake Trail by others traveling the route. She was about five miles from the trailhead when she was found. The case centers on James Bradley’s sad 1990 death which was first determined to be an accident caused by an automobile fire. But according to fresh information discovered by Ohio’s Guernsey County authorities Bradley’s tragic death was caused by a purposefully started fire. The fact that Bradley’s case was reopened in 2021 was a direct result of Butch Hoopingarner’s recent suspicion after another sad incident in Limon, Colorado. Butch Hoopingarner was implicated in the death of his roommate 64-year-old Everett Kerr after a welfare check uncovered Kerr’s lifeless body there. An altercation between the two men reportedly escalated resulting in Kerr’s tragic demise. Authorities tracked Butch Hoopingarner to Buffalo, Ohio where they discovered the vehicle of his deceased roommate Everett Kerr concealed on a property. The discovery led to a tense standoff that ended with Butch Hoopingarner surrendering to law enforcement.
