Steamboat Springs City Council meets tonight. One agenda item includes the first reading on the relocation and temporary storage of the Marshall House. This is so the building wouldn’t be demolished. The Marshall House is at 134 12th Street. It was the first wood-framed structure built in Steamboat Springs, back in 1899. A public hearing is also scheduled to discuss the Short-Term Rental Process.
Brighton mother is sentenced to prison over death of her child
A Colorado woman accused in the death of her child was sentenced on Tuesday after pleading guilty to child abuse resulting in death and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.Nicole Casias, of Brighton, was sentenced to 22 years in prison. Brighton police say her 22-month-old child was found dead with 10 times the amount of fentanyl that is needed to kill an adult in its system. The girl had been exposed while Casias was supposed to be caring for it.The child's father, Alonzo Montoya, was sentenced to 40 years in prison in April. Investigators say neither Casias nor Montoya checked on the baby for nearly 14 hours.

Man Faces Charges In Crash That Terminated Woman’s Pregnancy
Suspicion of aggravated vehicular assault counts face a man who allegedly caused a crash last month that ended a woman’s pregnancy. 37-year-old Gordon Cobb is accused of running a stop sign at Colo. 14 northwest of Severance, colliding with the woman’s vehicle and sending her veering into a ditch. Cobb is also charged with driving under the influence, as well as a handful of traffic offenses following the wreck on June 12th. At the hospital, police say, Cobb’s speech was slurred and his eyes were glassy. He refused to speak with police and immediately asked for an attorney.
Emergency shortage of Type O blood in Colorado
Blood donations are down in Colorado, and Type O blood has become the most scarce, leading Vitalant to announce an emergency blood shortage in Colorado. Type O blood donations dropped to an 18-month low in the state at Vitalant, a blood donation center that provides blood to 94 hospitals in Colorado.
