SEYMOUR, Conn. (WTNH) — Seymour fire officials say no injuries were reported after a fire broke out in a auto wrecking yard Thursday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the scrapyard on Silvermine Road just after 7 a.m. for reports of a fire with explosions. Upon arrival, they found multiple scrap vehicles on fire underneath a large canopy structure.

The fire was brought under control in about 40 minutes and the scene was cleared around 9:30 a.m.

Fire officials have determined the fire was accidental and believe it was likely caused by sparks from the wrecking process igniting leftover gasoline.
