SEYMOUR ( KFDX/KJTL ) — The city of Seymour is offering remote workers a place to conduct their business and get out of the house.

The Office, located at 510 North Donald, which used to be the old high school cafeteria, is home to 19 state-of-the-art cubicles and two private offices.

$7.5 million in upgrades coming to Wichita Falls roads, TxDOT officials announce

The setups are to accommodate remote work and long-distance learning.

The project took about two years to accomplish and was in partnership with Texas Workforce Solutions, which provided the desks, monitors, computers, and cubicles.

City officials said in today’s digital age, it’s important to give people tools in a competitive remote work environment.

“The building really wasn’t being used and it had to be updated and upgraded, and it gave us an opportunity to take an empty facility like this and put it back into the community as a productive structure.” Seymour Mayor Mark McCord said.

“It’s not as easy to convert your home into a home office so that you can work out of there. We want to equip people to be able to work remotely to move into our community and easily go from working remotely in the urban area to working remotely in the rural area,” Seymour Economic Development Director Lauren Bush said.

Partnering with Workforce Solutions, the office will match candidates with remote work tailored to their skills and expertise.
