(SAN FRANCISCO) A boy of unknown age was shot in San Francisco’s Union Square on Tuesday, allegedly after two groups of young people got into an argument that escalated.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported the shooting occurred around 2:22 p.m. on Stockton Street near the busy intersection of O’Farrell Street.

Upon arrival, officers found a boy with a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital and his current condition is unknown.

Police blocked off part of the street outside of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Crate and Barrel and the Disney Store, according to The Chronicle.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and no suspects have been identified or arrested as of Wednesday morning.

Anyone with information can call the San Francisco Police Department at 415-575-4444 or text TIP411 with "SFPD" to start the message.
