Avista recently announced new income limits for its My Energy Discount program, allowing more Washington residents to qualify for monthly energy bill discounts. As of October 1, 2024, these updated limits will benefit thousands of additional households across the state.

Kelsey Solberg, Senior Energy Program Manager at Avista, said, "We’re excited to expand ongoing bill discounts to more people. Even if someone didn’t qualify last year, they may now."

The program, which already assists 51,000 customers, could help nearly 90,000 more who haven't yet applied but are now eligible under the expanded criteria. For example, a single person in Spokane County earning up to $54,800 annually or a household of four earning up to $78,300 can now qualify.

Applying has been made easier, with no appointments or paperwork required. Customers can apply online, over the phone, or through community action agencies. Solberg emphasized the importance of applying before winter, as approved participants will retain the discount for two years before needing to reapply.

“If you or someone you know could benefit from a lower monthly bill, don’t wait to see if you qualify. Sign up now,” Solberg added.

Avista's expansion of this program is aimed at helping more families, seniors, and individuals struggling with rising energy costs.
