    Shanksville man fatally injured in accident Monday

    QUEMAHONING TWP ― A Shanksville man was fatally injured in a vehicle accident Monday evening.

    Wave Mostoller, 55, Shanksville, died in the accident on Old Lincoln Highway, west of Highland Road, Quemahoning Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

    Deputy Coroner David Johnson pronounced Mostoller dead at 8:14 p.m. at the scene. Chief Deputy Coroner Alexis Lichty said the cause of death is pending an autopsy scheduled for Wednesday.

    Police said Mostoller's passenger was taken to Conemaugh Medical Center with major injuries.

    According to the police report, Mostoller's vehicle was traveling east in the right lane on Old Lincoln Highway, when it traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree head-on and spun onto the left shoulder.

    Mostoller and his passenger were not wearing their seatbelts, police said. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

    Fire departments from Stoystown, Friedens and Hooversville, and Somerset EMS were dispatched to the 6:58 p.m. accident, according to Somerset County Emergency Dispatch.
