Return of history tour puts Valley gem in spotlight

SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – Guided tours of a local historical property are coming back and will be enhanced.

The Sharon Historical Society announced Tuesday the return of the Buhl Mansion Exclusive Guided History Tour.

The hour-long tour will include an orientation lecture in the Carriage House Art Gallery followed by an interior tour of the mansion and an exterior tour of its grounds.

“Our Buhl Mansion tours last Christmas sold out every time we released tickets, so we are excited to host this event again during the summer months to showcase the property and its gardens,” said Taylor Galaska, society president and marketing director. “The tour itself will be the same as the one during the holidays, however, the exterior of the mansion and the gardens will now be included.”

The Frank H. Buhl mansion was built in 1891 as a wedding gift from multi-millionaire industrialist and philanthropist Frank Buhl to his wife Julia. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The tours are scheduled as follows:

• 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursdays: Aug. 1, Aug. 8 and Aug. 15.
• 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Sundays: Aug. 4, Aug. 11 and Aug. 18

Tickets are $20 and need to be purchased in advance online. In-person tickets are not available.

The tours will begin in the Carriage House at Buhl Mansion Guesthouse & Spa, 422 East State
Street, Sharon.
