Trial begins for accused Shasta County murderer Steven Schlapia
REDDING, Calif. — Wednesday, July 17, was the first day of testimony in the murder trail of Steven Schlapia, accused of killing 47-year-old Jimmy Schwerdt in March 2022. Schwerdt is a member of a well-known Redding family. His father, Jim, is a retired long-time coach at Enterprise High, and his high mother, Nancy, worked in the Enterprise front office.
