Beyond the Byline: The day Plymouth’s hills were flooded
On July 3, 2011, the hills of my hometown, Plymouth, were flooded. It’s still bizarre to even write that sentence, but it actually happened. Yes, 13 years ago this week, when six inches of rain fell in less than one hour, Coal Creek overflowed and wreaked havoc on the good people of Coal Street. Homes and properties were severely damaged and the road and two bridges were weakened or washed away, isolating several families.

Wyoming Area Class of 1974 planning reunion
Wyoming Area High School, Class of 1974, will celebrate their 50th Class Reunion on Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Gramercy Restaurant in Pittston. There will be music and a raffle table. Wyoming Area Scholarship Awards Presentation
Wyoming Area Scholarship Program held its annual awards celebration June 6 at the secondary center auditorium. More than 120 individuals and groups from the community awarded approximately $400,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors from the Class of 2024. Several area athletes were selected to the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association Class 2A All-State teams released on Friday. Meadville led local schools with four selections on the all-state teams. Sophomores Luc Soerensen, Tymir Phillips and Parker Gosnell were named to the first-team. Soerensen and Gosnell are outside hitters while Phillips is a middle hitter. On the second-team, Meadville senior setter Jack Brown made the cut.
