Two Topeka men facing weapons crimes after pointing firearm at officer in Shawnee County
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Two Topeka men were arrested and are facing weapons crimes after pointing a firearm at an officer in Shawnee County. According to the Shawnee Co. Sheriff’s Office, shortly before 3:45 p.m. on Monday, July 1, a law enforcement officer with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office was in the 2700 block of SE Virginia Ave. when two men in a purple Nissan pickup truck exited their vehicle and pointed a firearm at the officer. The officer immediately sent an emergency alert and additional law enforcement officers arrive on the scene. Two people were quickly taken into custody.
Topeka woman arrested for SVEC bomb threat
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Shawnee County authorities arrested a Topeka woman for making a false bomb threat to Stormont Vail Events Center. The Shawnee Co. Sheriff’s Office says Esther Blair, 28, told people around the Stormont Vail events Center she had placed a bomb inside. Officers swept the arena with a K-9 unit, finding no explosive devices or anything of material threat.
