Accused of trying get jury list, Brown Co. commissioner pleads guilty to drunken driving
Brown County commissioners’ president Jerry Pittman has pleaded guilty to a drunken driving charge and received a one-year suspended jail sentence. Pittman, 75, is serving the last year of his second term on the rural county’s Board of Commissioners. He lost his bid for a third term when Tim J. Clark beat him by 89 votes in the May Republican primary.

Monroe County Government’s offices, including the Court, will be closed today. Jail employees, road deputies, and Highway workers are not affected by this closure. This is the second consecutive day with a similar closing. Yesterday the message sent out stated that it was due to unforseen circumstances. No further information regarding the reasoning nor the possibility of a prolonged closure have been provided.
