The 2023 French Open, tennis’ second grand slam major of the year, is currently underway in Paris at the prestigious Roland-Garros. Players from around the world are battling it out on the clay courts, vying for the coveted titles in men’s and women’s singles.

Aside from the glory of winning the championship, players are also competing for significant paycheck, as the tournament’s overall prize fund has returned to pre-COVID levels. Let’s take a closer look at the total purse for the 2023 French Open and how it is distributed across the different rounds. In recent years, the prize pot slightly shrank due to the impact of the ongoing pandemic. However, in 2023, the French Open has bounced back, restoring the prize funding to pre-pandemic levels for all participating players. The total prize money at Roland-Garros this year, encompassing both male and female tournaments, amounts to a staggering €49.6 million or 54.6 Million Dollars representing a notable 12.3% increase compared to 2022.

This substantial prize money demonstrates the significance of the tournament and the value placed on the achievements of the players. For the singles winners in each tournament, there’s an impressive check awaiting them. In 2023, the champions will receive a prize of nearly 2.5 million dollars.

The top two women’s seeds are Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka. Swiatek is the defending champion and will be aiming for a third French Open title.
