    Wendy's Employee Shares Gross Secret

On morbidly curious customer asked the Reddit community if there were any current or former Wendy's employees willing to share some secrets about the fast food chain—good or bad. And luckily for them, they received some pretty gross answers.

"We leave our American cheese out for like an hour before use," one employee responded. "And it sits out even longer if we're slow. It's called 'tempered' cheese." Gross!

Apparently, tempering cheese is the process of leaving cheese at room temperature for enhanced flavor, and according to another employee responding on the thread, "Wendy's did get special permission from the FDA" to use the process in their stores.

Customers React to Gross Wendy's Secret

Other Redditors were quick to respond with disgust to this fact. "This explains why sometimes their cheese tastes kinda funky," one person wrote.

"I guess I'll be asking for no cheese on my burgers from now on," another responded. "Yikes."

"As if I needed another reason to feel guilty about my fast food habit... " said a third.

"Honestly, not sure what I expected from fast food," commented one person. "It's all about speed, not quality."

"I used to work at Wendy's and can confirm they do some sketchy things back there," one former employee wrote. "This doesn't surprise me."
