    Ice Cream Recall

The manufacturer, G.S. Gelato & Desserts noted that the recall only includes product shipped between April 18 and July 11 and sold in 1-pint or 16-ounce paper cartons in retail stores. The product was shipped to 8 different states: New York, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New Jersey, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

The affected product has the lot number "041624L2," the UPC number "0 36800 46964 8" and an expiration or "best by" date of "10/15/2025." The lid of the dessert includes a graphic that is for Nature's Promise brand "Cashewmilk Chocolate Almond Crunch Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert," while the carton displays "Coconutmilk Chocolate Almond Crunch Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert."

    Undeclared Nut Allergens

The recall was issued after a retail store noticed that the lid and carton displayed two different products, and notified the manufacturer of the discrepancy. "The firm conducted an investigation which determined that a single lot of pints of cashewmilk product was dispensed into the Full Circle Market brand Coconutmilk pints during the manufacturing process," the recall notice states.

For those that have a nut allergy and opted for the coconutmilk non-dairy alternative, this recall is crucial, as nut allergies can cause severe reactions, including hives, swelling of the mouth, lips, or throat, tightening of the throat, cramps, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or anaphylactic shock.

What To Do If You've Purchased A Recalled Item

However, if you've purchased either the Cashewmilk Chocolate Almond Crunch Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert or the Coconutmilk Chocolate Almond Crunch Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert, it can't hurt to double check that what's advertised on the packaging is actually what's inside.
