Netflix has built a reputation for delivering some of the most compelling and diverse content in the streaming world, but with every success story comes the inevitable heartbreak of beloved shows coming to an end. From animated masterpieces to long-running fan favorites, fans have recently seen the announcement of several high-profile cancellations that have left them feeling shocked and saddened.

Among these cancellations are three Netflix originals— Arcane: League of Legends , Big Mouth , and The Brothers Sun —each of which has made a lasting impact on audiences. Read on to learn more about when you’ll have to say goodbye to each of these fan-favorite shows.

    1. Arcane: League of Legends

On June 11, Deadline announced that the second season of Arcane: League of Legends will be its final. Arcane , based on Riot Games' League of Legends multiplayer online game, was co-created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee. The series explores the origins of League champions Vi and Jinx.

The show's first season garnered a number of awards, including four Primetime Emmys. The second and final season, which is set to hit Netflix in November, will follow Jinx's attack on the Council of the Utopian city of Piltover.

While fans may be sad to see Arcane come to its natural end, the good news is that the creators have hinted that there are more League of Legends series to look forward to. We can only hope!

    2. Big Mouth

Now in its seventh season and confirmed for an eighth, Big Mouth is one of the longest-running scripted original series to stay on Netflix, beating even Grace and Frankie —but all good things must come to an end, including this one.

After the eighth season of this cartoon hits the streaming platform in 2025, we won't have any more Big Mouth to look forward to. This was announced back in May 2023, but the wound still feels fresh, especially as we approach the final season.

Big Mouth, which was created by Nick Kroll and explores themes of puberty with a heavy dose of humor, has garnered a huge following over the years. Its spinoff, Human Resources was also canceled after just two seasons. We're sad to see both go.

    3. The Brothers Sun

The Brothers Sun has been canceled after just one season, Deadline reported on March 1. This Netflix original dramedy, which premiered in January and had just eight episodes, starred Michelle Yeoh and chronicled the life of a Taiwanese family living in Los Angeles. Justin Chien plays the eldest son, a gangster who returns home to protect his brother and mother after his father is shot.

Although the series was one of Netflix's highest rated shows on Rotten Tomatoes (91% from audiences!), it only peaked at second place in the Netflix Top 10. However, while it may have not been the most viewed show on the platform, fans are certainly sad to see it go.
