    Potato Salad Is Being Recalled Because It May Contain 'Small Plastic Pieces'

    Hill Country Fare Mustard Potato Salad is being recalled after hard plastic pieces were found inside the product. The recall, which was issued voluntarily by the manufacturer, Oregon-based Reser’s Fine Foods, was issued in July and covers 24,378 containers of the potato salad.     Potato Salad Recall

    The Hill Country Fare Mustard Potato Salad recall has been classified as a Class II risk, which is the second-highest recall. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) defines a Class II risk as "a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."

    The 24,378 containers all have the UPC code 4122003165 and a best by date between July 24 and July 26. The affected product were sold in H-E-B and Joe V's Smart Shop locations in Texas. It was sold in 48-ounce clear plastic tubs with gold and blue labels and white lettering: "Hill Country Fare Mustard Potato Salad."

    The recall was initiated when the "presence of hard plastics" were found in the product. Aside from being a choking hazard, swallowing hard pieces of plastic can damage or even clog internal organs.

    If you've purchased the Hill Country Fare Mustard Potato Salad and have not consumed it yet, dispose of it immediately.
