Green vegetables are being pulled from Aldi’s shelves in 9 different states due to a possible listeria contamination. This recall, originally initiated voluntarily by RS Hanline & Co. Inc., has now been identified as a Class I risk by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the highest threat level a recall can be classified as. Keep reading for more information, including exactly which products are included in the recall and what you should do if you’ve purchased the product.

Class I Threat of Listeria Contamination

The vegetables are being recalled due to a possible Listeria contamination. Listeria are bacteria that can contaminate many different foods, and is especially dangerous to pregnant people, newborns, elderly adults, and people with weakened immune systems.

The original recall was initiated in late July, but this past week, the FDA increased the classification to Class I, which is the highest threat level. The FDA classifies recalls as Class I when use or exposure to a product could cause serious adverse health consequences or death.
