If you’re aiming to highlight supplements that enhance skin’s suppleness, hydration, youthfulness, and radiance this fall, look no further. Neuroscientist and popular TikTok personality Dr. Robert Love dedicates his expertise to Alzheimer’s prevention through a blend of scientific inquiry and practical dietary guidance.

In a recent TikTok video, the expert delved into the advantages of three specific supplements—fish oil, collagen peptides and vitamin C—explaining how they can not only bestow a luminous complexion but also bolster brain health as you grow older. On August 5th, he uploaded the below clip, discussing “three anti-aging supplements that reduce skin wrinkles.”

3 Anti-Aging Supplements That Hydrate Skin, Lower Inflammation And Bolster Brain Health, According To An Expert

    1. Fish Oil

Love began his video by noting that “by doing things that are healthy for your body and for your brain, they actually can help slow down aging.” He added: “For example, inflammation is one of the primary risk factors of Alzheimer’s disease, and inflammation is also one of the primary causes of aging, so doing things that lower inflammation not only can protect your brain from Alzheimer’s disease, but also help you look and feel younger.”

Regarding fish oil supplements, Love acknowledged that “a lot of people don’t think of” taking it for anti-aging purposes. “Fish oil is not only great for your brain, it’s also really great for your skin,” he said. The doctor continued: “Research shows that those who consume high levels of fish oil have fewer wrinkles.”

    2. Collagen Peptides

The next supplement Love recommended taking to "slow down aging" is collagen peptides, a type that he noted has "gone viral recently." The TikToker then said that "research found that women who consume collagen peptides have stronger muscles, healthier bones, and fewer wrinkles in their skin."

    3. Vitamin C

Love then dove into the many benefits of taking a vitamin C supplement , calling it "essential for making collagen in your skin." As for how much to take, Love suggested "about 1,000 milligrams of this a day at least."

We also conducted our own research and caught up with Jordan Dorn , holistic nutritionist and co-founder of Zuma Nutrition, to learn more about the ways that vitamin C supplements can promote glowing, radiant skin.  According to Dorn, "Vitamin C is responsible for many reactions in the body, specifically the manufacture of the collagen and protein that makes up 80 percent of our connective tissue."

He adds, "The body requires 1000 mg of Vitamin C in order to manufacture collagen." Collagen is a protein that's present in your hair, skin, nails, and more. It strengthen your bones and provides structure to different parts of your body. For collagen to successfully achieve these functions, it needs a great amount of vitamin C, Dorn stressed.

    The Bottom Line

Overall, consulting a dermatologist is crucial in determining the most suitable supplement for your specific skincare requirements, even though these three supplement types are held in high esteem by skincare experts.

For anyone looking to age gracefully, doctors frequently suggest collagen, peptides, fish oil, and vitamins C, E and A as a valuable starting point for supplement choices.
