The late Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly “offended” that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated their daughter Lilibet’s first birthday without her – especially because they were in the U.K. for it!

According to reports, the late Princess Diana ‘s former butler, Paul Burrell , described how the late monarch had planned a birthday party for her great-granddaughter, but was snubbed on the big day.

The Queen Reportedly Planned A Special Party For Great-Granddaughter Lilibet's First Birthday

If you'll recall, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet flew from Montecito, California to London to attend the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022. And as Lilibet's first birthday took place during that same period (her birthday is June 4th, FYI) the Queen reportedly wanted to mark the occasion with something special!

"On Lilibet's first birthday, the Queen didn't see her — she saw her the day before," Burrell reportedly told The Mirror, before going on to reveal that the late monarch had planned a special party for the great-granddaughter who was named after her , including a cake, but neither her nor her parents were there to light the candle.

Former Butler Asks: 'How Could You Offend Our Queen?'

"On her birthday, the Queen had a birthday cake made with one candle in it. And they never turned up. That candle was never lit," Burrell continued. According to reports, the Sussexes marked their daughter's first birthday with a private party at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, which is where they were staying before being evicted by King Charles.

"How could you offend our Queen? Well, I don't understand anyone that could do that," Burrell continued, in reference to Harry and Meghan snubbing the Queen. "Not her family, why would you want to?"

"She was devoid of jealousy, anger, envy, all those traits that we associate with other people she didn't have," he continued. "She was just a very simple soul. I wish the world could have known her the way I knew her."

I think that this story is false. From all accounts, Harry loved his grandmother. So if Queen Elizabeth did plan a celebration for Lilibet, I am sure that Lilibet would have been there. And if all the negative things about Meghan are true, then a party given by Queen Elizabeth for Lilibet would have also put Meghan in the limelight.
