Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban ‘s 16-year-old daughter Sunday Rose made her modeling debut last week, as she opened the Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2025 womenswear show during Paris Fashion Week. However, the teenager’s runway appearance was met with mixed reviews, with some critics slamming her as a nepo baby and claiming she was only there because of her famous parents.
And it should come as no surprise to learn that the negative comments are part of the reason why the 56-year-old musician was hesitant to let his daughter walk in the show. In fact, Urban wants to keep her away from the spotlight for as long as possible!
Keith Urban Says He Wants To Help His Daughter Find The Right ‘Balance’ Between Fame And Normal Teenager Life
The “Somebody Like You” singer told People magazine that he was “very proud” of his daughter for bravely opening the Miu Miu show on her very first time on the catwalk, but will be making sure that she remains a normal teenager and focuses on her schoolwork and other non-celebrity activities for as long as possible.
“Hopefully we can just help her keep balance with everything through all of that,” the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” singer told the mag, adding: “Hopefully she’ll benefit by having two parents that know about a certain amount of celebrity .”
Although both the "You'll Think of Me" singer and the Babygirl actress are used to navigating fame and finding the right balance between public and private life, he knows that parenting over the next few years is going to be a huge challenge.
"It's all a challenge. I mean, raising kids is a challenge, period," Urban continued. "It's about trying to keep a balance. It's all a process, but I think balance is key," he went on, adding: "Keeping her firmly with schoolwork and structure and everything balanced in its place is key."
This echoes what an insider told Woman's Day earlier this year, as the insider explained that the four-time Grammy-winner wants his daughter to enjoy life out of the public eye for as long as possible. "He knows he's overprotective but he wants Sunday to wait a few years to really grow up before she even thinks about becoming a star," the source said at the time.
Sunday Rose Tells 'Vogue' About Her 'Exciting' Fashion Week Debut
While we don't know what Sunday Rose makes of her father's plans for her future, we *do* know that she was thrilled to be given the opportunity to make her Paris Fashion Week debut.
"I've been wanting to do this for so long. So, when the offer came through it was really exciting and now the day is finally here," she reportedly told Vogue on the day of the show, adding: "I was really stressed and then... everyone here was really nice."
She’s beautiful Nicole and Keith. Yep, she’s gonna have you on the edge of your seats!!!! Have faith, remember you raised her and taught her well! Take a deep breath, and put one foot in front of the other! It will all work out!
