Elton John, 77, Tells Fans About His Health Concerns In 'Never Too Late' Documentary: 'I Don't Know How Much Time I Have Left'

Sir Elton John opened up about his fears for his health in his documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late, which was seen for the first time at the BFI London Film Festival on Thursday, October 10th.

The 77-year-old “Candle in the Wind” musician got candid about his future while talking to the camera while sitting in the dressing room of Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles during his final tour. Keep reading to find out more…

Elton John Says He Thinks About Life And Death Now He Is In His Late Seventies

"I wonder what is going to happen to all of this stuff when I finish?" the composer asked, in reference to some of his possessions in his dressing room during the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

"This is the latter time of my life. I don't know how much time I have left," the "I'm Still Standing" hitmaker continued."You think about that more when you get to my age," John explained, adding: "You think about life and, er, and death. You think, 'Well, I just want to be where I want to be now.'"

He also referenced his health at the New York Film Festival earlier this month, telling the audience, as per People and the New York Post: "To be honest with you, there's not much of me left. I don't have tonsils, adenoids or an appendix. I don't have a prostate. I don't have a right hip or a left knee or a right knee. In fact, the only thing left to me is my left hip."

Elton John Reportedly Still Intends To Make Music, But Has Put Touring Behind Him

Also in the documentary, the "Cold Heart" musician went on to talk about some of his plans for the future, reiterating that he still intends to make music, but wants to put touring behind him due to how exhausting it is.

"I don't have to work after this. I will work and do records and putting radio shows together but travelling takes so much out of you," he explained.

"It is very tiring. I am used to it. I am a veteran at it but this is where you start to think about mortality."

Elton John's Husband And Sons 'Worry' About Him Too

It isn't just the "Rocket Man" singer himself who thinks about his mortality, as he mentioned that it's also on the minds of his husband, David Furnish , and their sons Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11.

"They worry as they know how old I am," he confessed. "Not so much David but me. They love their Daddy so they want me to be around forever."

The "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" co-writer continued: "I want to be around forever. I want to see them have children, get married, but I don't think I am going to be around for that. Who knows? You never know." He finished off by saying: "So that is why I want to make the best of my time while I am around. Our time together is so wonderful and so precious."
