Alex Rodriguez Might Be Having the Last Laugh With This Post Amid Ex Jennifer Lopez’s Divorce

Back in April 2021, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez had us all reeling after announcing their split after four years together. After all, the two seemed to be going strong and were even set to go down the aisle. But now, with Lopez’s divorce from Ben Affleck officially filed after two years together, it’s like JLo and ARod’s relationship was a whole lifetime ago.

And while that may be true for fans of the “On the Floor” singer, Rodriguez might still be pressed about it all.

Shortly after news of Lopez’s filing hit the headlines, the former baseball player took to Instagram to post a cryptic quote. “You either go one way or the other, you might as well be the one deciding the direction,” he posted on Instagram Story .

As for what that could mean for Rodriguez, the possibilities are endless. Could he be hinting at Lopez’s choices in her love life he doesn’t approve of? Could he be gloating about how proud he is to have left that situation? To be perfectly honest, we might never know.

Looking at Rodriguez’s few statements about their relationship since their split, however, it seems their split was quite amicable.

“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so,” Lopez and Rodriguez, who first started dating in 2017, announced in a joint statement in 2021. “We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects.”

“We wish the best for each other and one another’s children,” the statement continued. “Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”

Years later, in 2022, Rodriguez shared nothing but kind words about the singer and actress. “Look, we had a great time,” he said on The Martha Stewart Podcast , per Pop Sugar. “More importantly, we always put the kids front and center in everything we do. Here’s what I will tell you about Jennifer . . . she’s the most talented human being I’ve ever been around.”

As a reminder, Lopez reconciled with Affleck only a few months after their split. And despite how amicable Rodriguez and Lopez’s split was to the public, their newfound relationship surely stung. “He felt like she tossed him out with the trash when she got a better offer from Ben and it did a huge number on him,” a source told InTouch Weekly earlier this year. “He went from planning a wedding to watching her marry someone else in what felt like the blink of an eye.”

Looks like Rodriguez is getting the last laugh now.
