Rumer Willis Reveals the Heartwarming Reason She’s ‘Open’ to More Kids Amid Split From Derek Richard Thomas

Rumer Willis isn’t letting her relationship status change her family plans. The My Divorce Party star just revealed that she is “open” to more kids as a single mom after splitting from her partner Derek Richard Thomas, and the reason why is so heartwarming!

Rumer Willis Opens up About Her Breakup From Derek Richard Thomas a Year After Welcoming Baby Lou

First, a recap. ICYMI, Willis revealed during a Q&A on her Instagram story on Thursday that she and Thomas, who share daughter Louetta “Lou” Isley, 16 months, broke up. Someone asked if they were still a couple, and Willis responded, “Nope I am single momming it and coparenting.”

“I’m so grateful for Lou,” she continued. “She is the best thing in my life and I’m forever grateful I was able to have the time in that relationship for her to come into my life.”  (PEOPLE has a screenshot HERE .)

It’s unclear when the couple split, but it won’t affect how Willis plans for the future. During the same Q&A, she revealed that she wants “6 or 7” kids one day. Another person asked, “Are you thinking about more children in the future?” Willis shared a video of her holding Lou and nodding yes.

When asked if she would “have more children as a single mama,” the Sorority Row star shared the heartwarming reason why her answer is a yes. “Definitely because having siblings is one of the best parts of my entire life,” the eldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore wrote, tagging her sisters Scout Willis, 33, and Tallulah Willis, 30.

She also included her sisters Mabel,12, and Evelyn, 10, who Bruce shares with wife Emma Heming Willis. “Mabel and Evelyn are my best friends and favorite people and I want that for Lou. So open to whatever that looks like in the future.”

Aww! I come from a family of six kids, so I knew from the very beginning that I wanted to have more than one child as well. A sibling relationship is so, so special — and I love how she isn’t letting her relationship or anything else get in the way of creating the family she wants.

The “Crazy Crazy 4 U” singer celebrated her 36 ^th birthday last week , sharing a sweet carousel of photos with her daughter. “My tiny girl you are every birthday wish I’ve ever had come true. You are my soulmate and the love of my life,” she wrote. “This last year has been so wild and challenging and beautiful and you are such a light. I am so grateful for you. For your tenderness and love. I learned so much this year. So much about myself. I feel more free and happier than I have been in a long time.”

“Navigating through this last year has shown me strength inside myself I didn’t know was possible and I am so proud of myself,” she continued, adding that she is intentionally deciding to live life “delighted and surprised by magic every day.” She continued, “To remember who I am, loving all parts of me unconditionally. To continue walking this path I have set upon and see what I discover along the way. The wild, the messy, the strange, the wonderful. Just you and me kid, it’s all magic. I’m so lucky I get to share life with you.”
