Back in 1980, Dolly Parton , Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin joined forces and inspired a whole generation of women in their hit movie, 9 to 5 . Fast-forward over 40 years later, none other than Jennifer Aniston is at the forefront of bringing the long-awaited reboot of the movie to the big screen.

The news, which was announced by Variety earlier this year in April, had longtime fans of the movie at the edge of their seats. And now, well into pre-production, the movie’s screenwriter Diablo Cody is revealing some juicy details of what’s to come.

“I’m not really supposed to talk about this that much,” she told People . “But the original movie was kind of a battle-of-the-sexes type scenario whereas now I feel like most of the conflict in the workplace is generational: how Gen Z works versus people that have maybe been in the office for decades.”

So while Cody kept details of the main plot still under wraps, it seems the original plot of women getting revenge on their sexist boss, is completely out the window. With that said, the Jennifer’s Body writer guaranteed her new script will surely “pay homage to the material.”

“[ 9 to 5 ] was the perfect statement about corporate culture for its time,” Cody said of the 80’s classic. “And I think now the conflicts have changed a little bit.”

In the interview, Cody also gushed about Aniston, who will be co-producing with Kristin Hahn in their production company, Echo Films.

“Jennifer Aniston is just the coolest girl in the world, right?” Cody said of The Morning Show star. “She can make anything happen. She’s incredibly powerful. And she’s gorgeous and she’s cool.”

Back in May, one of the stars of the original movie, Tomlin, talked about the 9 to 5 reboot and got candid about how she really feels about it all.

“I felt sort of the same way I felt about the musical. You know, part of you feels rejected,” the Grace and Frankie star admitted to People , referring to the musical stage version of the movie which was co-written by Parton back in 2008. “You think that character’s yours always. And you could reembody it.”

“It’s going to be tough to make [the movie] happen,” Tomlin added. “My sympathies are with Jennifer and her writer Diablo, who is a good writer.” Fingers crossed it all works out!
