When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry left the royal family and moved to California in 2020, the couple, together with their young son Archie, had to totally reinvent themselves. At first, that meant coming clean about what happened, opening up to the world in sit-down interviews and Harry’s tell-all Spare about the challenges they faced and why they ultimately decided to leave. Now, Markle and Harry are on a different track: focusing on their passions and living their life to the fullest.
Everything Harry & Meghan Have Done Since Leaving the Royal Family
In their recent trip to Colombia , for example, Markle herself gushed about the era she’s living in. “[I’m] looking at this as my chapter of joy,” Markle told the crowd at a panel on Aug. 18.
And as Markle and Harry refocus on their new phase, there’s one person they reportedly won’t be making amends with: Markle’s dad, Thomas Markle.
“Meghan still has no contact with her dad,” a source told Us Weekly .
As a reminder, Markle’s relationship with her dad dwindled after he admitted to staging paparazzi photos ahead of her wedding — then made public a five-page letter she’d written him expressing how hurt she was by his behavior.
“She does not plan on having a relationship with him, and he has not met his grandkids,” the source continued. “That ship has sailed.”
Instead, Markle will be relying on her husband, her mother Doria Ragland and her inner circle of friends for support. Luckily, the work she’s doing now has been more fulfilling than ever before, compared to the work she used to be assigned to do by the royal family.
“Their work is more personal,” the source continued, referring to Markle and Harry’s philanthropy work through their non-profit, The Archewell Foundation. “Female advocacy remains a centerpiece of her philanthropic intent,” the source explained.
In addition to their philanthropy, it’s also almost time until Markle releases her two personal projects: her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard and her new Netflix series all about being a “modern-day hostess.”
“[ARO] will likely be very much in line with who Meghan is as a person,” a second source told the outlet. “She loves hosting events, and she’s very thoughtful about how she treats her guests whenever they come over.”
For fans of Markle, her new phase is beyond refreshing. Despite her sadly not having any contact with her father, it seems she’s finally got her footing and is going after her passions for the first time in a while.
