Prince Harry recently made a quick trip across the pond to attend the 2024 WellChild Awards in London. As a patron of the organization that celebrates the courage and achievements of sick children, the Duke of Sussex met with kids battling serious illnesses, offering touching words of encouragement to them and their families.

What was perhaps even more touching was that award recipient Scarlett Cripps had presents for Prince Harry and his family. The 10-year-old gave the Duke of Sussex four crystals: A blue one for himself, a purple one for his wife Meghan Markle, a green one for his 5-year-old son Prince Archie, and a yellow one for his 3-year-old daughter Princess Lilibet.

“[She] gave Prince Harry some crystal hearts so if he feels down he can give a crystal heart to each of his family members to squeeze and make them feel a lot happier,” Scarlett’s mom Aby said, per People .

Prince Harry called Scarlett’s gift “a lovely gesture” that would remind him of his “lovely wife” and told reporters he would take the crystal hearts out and squeeze them when he’s away from Markle and their kids.

Prince Archie, Meghan Markle, and Prince Harry during their royal tour of South Africa on September 25, 2019 in Cape Town, South Africa.

At the ceremony, Prince Harry said the event and the stories of the young patients was something that “never fails to inspire” him.

“As a parent, I know a little about the emotional rollercoaster of parenting,” he said . “But when I hear about the care many of you mums, dads, and family members provide, the level of round-the-clock care you offer, the skills you’ve had to learn and the battles for support that you fight every single day, I am truly in awe.”

The Duke of Sussex has been attending a lot of philanthropic events recently. Last month, he spoke at an event supporting The HALO Trust , an international organization committed to clearing landmines that was close to his late mother’s heart. In 1997, Princess Diana famously walked through a minefield in Angola.

Prince Harry last visited Angola in 2019 and noted that a lot has changed since then. In that time, he became a dad for the second time.

“While you don’t need children to have a stake in the future of our planet, I do know that my mother would have been horrified that anyone’s children or grandchildren would live in a world still infested with mines,” he said in his sobering comments .

It is indeed a horrifying thought. Hopefully now, when such thoughts overwhelm him and he’s away from his children who he’s called “ the best gift ,” he can reach for what must be a close second: these sweet crystals from Scarlett to make him feel better.

Before you go, check out Prince Harry’s very best dad moments — so far!

He said he'd take them out when he's thinking of his lovely wife. He jetted out of London like his butt was on 🔥 (like he usually does) and he's relaxing with his brother, Prince Seeiso, and the rest of the Lesotho Royal family who were overjoyed that 'Mohale'(their name for Prince Harry. It means Warrior) has come back. The entire vibe after his warm welcome by King Letsie III and Queen Motsoeneng at the U.N. was completely "You gotta come visit because we've missed you".
