Jennifer Hudson Asked Boyfriend Common About Marriage & We Can’t Stop Blushing

When it comes to celebrity relationships , it’s safe to say fans get fewer details than they might want. After all, being famous already means so much of their life is public, the least they can do is keep their relationship under wraps . But, while that might be the case for many, other couples don’t mind dishing on their relationship and leaving fans asking for more.

In a recent episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show , for example, host Jennifer Hudson wasn’t afraid to put her boyfriend, rapper Common, on the hot seat.

“I heard you’ve been even out there talking about marriage. What’s that about?” Hudson asked Common, who she’s been dating since 2021.

While Common was surprised by the question, he didn’t hesitate to answer. “You know what? You told me a quote that your mother said, ‘A man knows what he wants,’” he told Hudson. “I was saying my true feelings about, listen, Jennifer is the person.”

“If I should be married, it will be to Jennifer Kate Hudson,” he said, looking deep in the Oscar-winner’s eyes. “I was just being honest.”

Of course, Hudson then couldn’t stop blushing as the crowd cheered them on. When prompted the same question from Common, Hudson seemed to be on the same page. “My mother was right, I think if she had met you she [would say] ‘I don’t know about the rest of them but that Common is alright with me,'” Hudson said of her mom, who passed away in 2008.

“I think it’s a beautiful thing,” Hudson continued, this time holding hands with the rapper. “I think you are a deserving man and I support that idea, I think it’s a beautiful idea.” Looks like wedding bells will be ringing soon!

At the end of his appearance, Hudson shared some sweet sentiments about her boyfriend. “When you hear his name, Common, you think of a storyteller, a poet, an artist who speaks truth to power,” she said. “But when I think of this man, Rashid, I think of your heart, your faith, and what I love most about him: He is a praying man. He is a man of his word. He is like nobody I have ever seen in my life. Talk about choosing joy. You are joy. You are my joy, and you are light.”

With a couple as sweet and connected as this, we’re hoping a wedding is right around the corner!
