SHELBY — Crews from four fire departments battled an early-morning fire Monday at 3448 Ohio 39 in Jackson Township.

According to Shelby fire Chief Mike Thompson, the fire originated in the area of a grapevine tree that was powered using extension cords.

It was called in at 12:41 a.m. When crews arrived, they found the front porch on fire with extension into the eaves and attic.

Crews remained on scene until 2:28 a.m. In addition to Shelby, Franklin, Madison and Springfield township fire departments provided mutual aid.

The American Red Cross and 1-800-Board-Up were notified to help the residents. There were no injuries to occupants or responders.
