Aren’t we glad that James Paul Wilson made it through his illness? He was treated in a Shreveport hospital and was in ICU at times. He lost over 20 pounds and is now back home. James Paul came by the nickname of Squirrely because of his ability as a child to skinny up a tree as fast as the squirrels. Squirrely has been a popular staff member of KDET longer than most of the former staff. We’re looking forward to his being back with his early morning wake up music.

I’m still pondering over Pastor Zimmerman’s church in Shelbyville. I hope I can locate someone who has the correct information on it. I told it in the last column as I remembered it. Now, I’m wondering if his church building was the one that Mrs. Morris Gill and her Nazarene Church members bought in Shelbyville and had moved up Shelbyville highway to a lot just across the street from our house. Help me locate the correct story on it.

I called and talked with Evelyn Biggar who I recognize as a real county historian. She worked as a volunteer for many years at the museum and also was an assistant with John Reagan Harris in putting out the two big volumes of Shelby County history.

Evelyn couldn’t help me on the Zimmerman story but did say she had heard of a preacher being buried under his pulpit somewhere. I enjoyed talking with her. She is a member of the Hooker Sunday School Class.

“Bow the Knee” play is to be presented in the First Baptist Church March 23 and 24. This is an Easter production and will begin at 6 p.m.

Eric Beecham, church choir director is in charge of the play and a large number of the church members are involved with the production.

Some of the main men actors are Brad Lawrence, Bryan Wages, Stevens Evans, Terry Scull, Jason Locke, Lonnie Traxler, Bobby Floyd and Joe Anderson.

Deborah Welch is one of the female actors.

The drama centers on the life of Christ performing miracles, forgiving sinners and in the end being crucified.

Joe Anderson is the only one I know. The others are known to me by phone, church literature and Sunday broadcast. So, I’ll be interested in watching Joe as an actor.

I’ve known him and Linda since they first arrived in Center. Pete and I listened to Joe every morning while eating breakfast as he gave his county agent farm program on KDET.

It’s going to be an interesting drama televised on Channel. 2. It is a wonderful way for your family to remember the real reason we celebrate as Easter.
