SEVEN YEARS AGO: Hurricane Harvey makes landfall on the middle Texas Coast
It’s a storm many South Texans won’t soon forget: Hurricane Harvey. The powerful storm made landfall seven years ago on Aug. 25, 2017, near Rockport, Texas. Harvey would go on to dump historic flooding rains after stalling over South and Southeast Texas for a few days, as well as produce high winds and storm surge along the coast.

TxDOT launches Drunk Driving Campaign ahead of Labor Day Weekend
HOUSTON (KIAH) – Labor Day weekend has begun, a time to celebrate the end of summer with friends. Although this weekend is supposed to be a relaxing occasion, we want to make sure everyone is drinking responsibly and being safe. That’s why Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is launching their annual “Drive Sober. No Regrets” campaign. Houston Police did a simulation to show the dangers of drunk driving.

Line break causes sewage to spill into Nacogdoches’ Lanana Creek
NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - City crews found a sewer line break near the north end of Lanana Creek Sunday morning. Officials were notified of the incident at about 11:30 a.m., according to a release from the City of Nacogdoches. The break was found to be in a 15″ pipe that runs behind 4541 NE Stallings Drive.

EAST TEXAS, Texas (KLTV/KTRE) - Happy Sunday, East Texas! Look for mostly sunny to sunny skies today, with temperatures to begin the day in the 70s, rising into the 90s this afternoon. There is no rain in today’s forecast, though an isolated stay shower will be possible in the Toledo Bend and Tyler, Jasper, Newton county areas this afternoon into the evening. Mostly clear skies are expected tonight, with clouds returning Monday morning. Through the coming week we’ll see partly cloudy skies each day, along with a chance for showers and thunderstorms. In addition to the possible rain, we’ll also have near-normal temperatures through the week. Highs will be in the mid 90s each day, with morning lows in the 70s. The chance for rain does look to persist into next weekend, that’ll be something we continue to monitor this week and will keep you updated on. Have a blessed Sunday.
