Iowa Parents – Think Twice Before Posting Your Kids’ Back-to-School Photos
Very soon, kids across our neighborhoods will scramble out of bed, bleary-eyed but excited, well some of them. Iowa’s new abortion law is set to take effect Monday morning. The law passed last year, but a judge initially blocked it from being enforced. Last month, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled there is no constitutional right to an abortion in the state and ordered the hold to be lifted. A district court judge now says the law will go into effect Monday at 8 a.m. The law bans an abortion once fetal cardiac activity is detected, which is typically around six weeks into a pregnancy. There are exceptions for rape, incest, fetal abnormality, or if the pregnancy endangers the mother’s life.

Sun Prairie native a burgeoning star for Iowa football
INDIANAPOLIS — Addison Ostrenga’s role changed drastically by the week for the University of Iowa football team last fall. The Hawkeyes expected to have two standout tight ends to spearhead their receiving corps, but injuries to Erick All and Luke Lachey suddenly turned a position of strength into a question mark a month into the season. The attention turned to Ostrenga, a Sun Prairie native and then a sophomore tight end. He was asked to become a key target for an offense that was struggling, and while he couldn’t turn it around entirely, he became a crucial weapon for whom coach Kirk Ferentz sees a bright future.
