Shenandoah County fire marshal rules Moose Lodge blaze accidental
The Shenandoah County Fire Marshal's Office ruled the blaze that damaged the Strasburg Moose Lodge on June 9 an accident. The fire marshal's office responded to 572 Redbud Road at approximately 6:30 p.m. for a reported structure fire in the organization’s building. Investigators saw heavy fire damage at the rear of the building, according to a Monday news release issued by the county Fire Marshal Travis Hilliard. After several hours of investigation and interviews, fire marshals determined the blaze started in a back storeroom by the exit door, the release states.
Shenandoah County woman faces sentencing for using missing mother's money
A Shenandoah County woman accused of stealing from her mother — who was reported missing in 2021 — awaits punishment this week for federal crimes. Elizabeth Anne Catherine Keegan faces sentencing in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia in Harrisonburg on Thursday and Friday. Keegan, 60, of Maurertown, pleaded guilty in late January to one federal count each of access-device fraud and unlawful use of another person’s identity.
