SHENANGO TWP, Pa. (WKBN) — The Shenango Valley Animal Shelter is taking the next steps toward its new building as it announced an invitation to bid on Wednesday.

The shelter has been struggling with escalating costs and issues with overcapacity since before the pandemic. Now, it is working to take the necessary steps to open a new and improved facility.

The shelter will receive bids for the improvement project now through Aug. 9 at 3 p.m. Sealed bids proposals addressed to the “Shenango Valley Animal Shelter Lynnwood Drive Site Improvement Project” can be taken to the Shenango Township Municipal Building at 3439 Hubbard West Middlesex Road.

A bid guarantee in the amount of 10% of the total bid cost is required to accompany all bid proposal submissions. All bids will be publicly opened and read in the municipal building directly after the bid deadline.

For anyone seeking more information, contract documents and technical specifications are on file at the municipal building. For questions, contact Chris Winslow at 724-866-7602 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The project is financed, in part, by a grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
