Friends of the Banquet will sponsor the Dine In or Drive Thru Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building. Carnegie Public Library to host a variety of events in August
EAST LIVERPOOL–The Carnegie Public Library has a few things going on throughout August including a Know Your Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt which will take place throughout the entire month. Park commission approves purchase of new pool filters
SALEM – The Salem Park Commission approved the purchase of new pool filters in its meeting Wednesday. Parks Director Jacob Logan said that the department had recently installed its last spare filter to repair a break at the Centennial Park Pool, requesting authorization from the commissioners to purchase two for a combined cost of $1,351.92 plus shipping to be paid with funding from the Kenneth U. and Ruth H. Wirtz Memorial Fund, which was unanimously approved. Logan said that while he expected the five other filters currently in service to last through the season, the department needed to have replacement filters on hand in the event an unexpected repair or replacement was required. Logan also said that the department would likely need to replace the remaining filters once the current pool season ended as the filters were approaching the end of their useful lifespan.
Salem utilities commission hears updates on projects
SALEM–The utilities commission heard updates on the department’s ongoing projects in its meeting Thursday. With the receipt of the signed resolution authorizing the commission to apply for loan funding from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) and the Ohio Water Development Authority for phase one of the water treatment plant upgrades received from city council last week set to be sent to the OEPA by Benesch Engineering Friday, the commission still needed to sign the notice of intent to award the project to chosen contractor AP O’Horo Construction subject to OEPA approval. The commissioners voted unanimously to authorize the signing and issuance of the notice, which Benesch also hoped to send to AP O’Horo Friday.
Campbell woman found not guilty by reason of insanity
WARREN– A Campbell woman has been found not guilty by reason of insanity, and the court is now awaiting a forensic report to determine the appropriate course of action. The report from the Forensic Psychiatric Center of Northeast Ohio is expected within 10 days from the Thursday sentencing hearing before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Cynthia Rice.
