The House on Wednesday unanimously voted for a resolution to establish a bipartisan task force to investigate the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. The task force will investigate federal, state and local law enforcement and agency actions in the lead-up to the attempt on Trump's life on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania. 416 members voted in favor of the resolution, and 16 members did not vote.

GREENSBORO, N.C.--The Westminster College baseball program claimed the 2023-24 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award Wednesday morning. The ABCA recognized over 800 member college and high school programs from across the country with the 2023-24 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, with is presented by Sports Attack. Teams from every level of college and high school baseball were honored with this year's award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the cumulative 2023-24 academic year. Cranberry board updated on how state budget affected district funds
During Monday’s board meeting, Cranberry School District business manager Karen Rupert updated the board on the 2024-25 state budget’s impact on the district. The district’s budget, adopted before the state finalized its budget, saw a 1.7% increase in basic education funding and a 5% increase in special education funding. Additional funds for the Ready to Learn program may be used for class size reduction. However, Rupert expressed disappointment with the $52,000 reimbursement for cyber schools, far short of the expected $600,000. The district also received funds for school safety. Additionally, the board approved a four-year contract with the Cranberry Area Education Support Professional Association, which includes pay raises and increased health care contributions, aiming to improve employee recruitment.

Rumble Car Show returns to Mars this weekend
After spending last year in Saxonburg, the Rumble Car Show is returning home to downtown Mars for its fifth installment on Saturday, July 27, from noon to 7 p.m. The show, says organizer John Podolak, has grown “bigger and better” each year since its inception on the streets of Mars in 2019, hosting more than 1,000 vehicles on multiple occasions and practically shutting down the borough.
