Galveston man arrested with large quantities of drugs and stolen handgun
GALVESTON, Texas — A Galveston man was arrested after authorities found him in possession of significant quantities of drugs and a stolen handgun. On July 25, 2024, the Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force and Galveston Police Department Special Operations Division executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 5000 block of Avenue K, according to the Galveston County Sheriff's Office. Prior to the search, detectives observed 39-year-old Darrington Joiner, of Galveston, Texas, leaving the residence, leading to a traffic stop where Joiner was found with 34 grams of crack cocaine.

Multiple lawsuits filed against CenterPoint over power outage failures
(The Center Square) – Multiple lawsuits have been filed against CenterPoint Energy, including three this week, over power outage failures in southeast Texas after Hurricane Beryl hit on July 8 and it took 12 days to restore power to customers who were able to receive it.
