Western Ky. broadcasting company adds Madisonville radio stations
MADISONVILLE, Ky. (KT) — A western Kentucky-based media broadcasting company has added radio stations in Madisonville to its array of operations. The Edge Media Group has announced the acquisition of Sound Broadcasters of Madisonville. Sound Broadcasters is owned and operated by Bob Kelley and his family. The company includes WFMW 730 AM and 107.7 FM, 93.9 WKTG-FM, Mad Mix 105.9 and The Drive Classic Hits 94.9.

Mayor of Hazard, Happy Mobelini said city staff does not take a break for this holiday. “Our Fire Department have been cooking since 6 o’clock this morning.” Mobelini said. “The City of Hazard is not off on the Fourth of July.”

This case was the result of Laurel County Drug Task Force investigations.

Doe Valley holds annual Independence Day Celebration with tons of fun!
On Saturday June 29th, the morning in Doe Valley started off with a 5K Fun Run hosted by the Doe Valley Representative Advisory Committee to celebrate the upcoming Independence Day holiday and kick off the day’s events with a bang. The run also offered a one-mile walk route for those that just wanted to get out and enjoy a brisk walk through the neighborhood. Although the weather was already warm and balmy by the race start at 9 am, the runners were in extremely good spirits. Kudos to the top winners in both male and female categories: 1st place- Clyde Dean (22:12); 2nd place- Lukas Spohn (22:47); Liam Rairdon (26:53); 1st place- Morgan Paden (28:26); 2nd place- Samatha Gerbine (29:56); 3rd place- Elena Spohn (34:15); Top 1-Mile Men’s Walker was Jonathan Huber (13:42) and the Women’s Walker was Myra Rairdon (13:52). Hats off to Bill Hobbs, the oldest competitor to complete the course at the young age of 83. The next tentative race day is Thanksgiving Day for a Turkey Trot.
Water Tank Issue Closes Ellis Park to Patrons July 4
Ellis Park announced on the morning of July 4 that the opening-day card there would be run without patrons due to an unscheduled grandstand maintenance issue. Kevin Kerstein, who publicizes racing at Ellis Park for track operator Churchill Downs Inc., told BloodHorse that due to thunderstorms on July 3 in the Henderson, Ky., area, "There was an issue with power in the grandstand that knocked the water tank out. The water tank was able to fill up to a level to keep racing operations on as normal, but it is not to the level to open the grandstand for patrons."
